In the Name of God Amen. I William Darch of the Parish of Tawstock (Singleman) being weak of body but of a perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in the following manner and form (Viz) I give and Bequeath unto my sister Nancy Joce, Wife of Robert Joce the sum of three pounds to be paid twelve months after my decease. Also I give and Bequeath unto my Brother Richard Darch the sum of eighteen pounds to be paid twelve months after my decease. Also I give and Bequeath unto my sister Mary Josling, the wife of Francis Josling the sum of eighteen pounds to be paid twelve months after my decease.
Also I give and Bequeath unto my brother Thomas Darch the sum of eighteen pounds to be paid twelve months after my decease.
Also I give and Bequeath unto my sister Betsey Peace, the wife of James Peace, the sum of eighteen pounds to be paid twelve months after my decease. Also I give and Bequeath unto my beloved friend Eliza Fairchild, daughter of William Fairchild, Yeoman of the Parish of Fremington in the said County the sum of eighteen pounds to be paid twelve months after my decease. Also I give and Bequeath unto Elizabeth Ann, Mary Jane and William Joce, Children of my sister Nancy the sum of five pounds each to be deposited in the Devon and Exeter Savings Bank twelve months after my decease and to be paid to each of the said Children with all the Interest and profits arising from the same when they shall attain the full age of Twenty one years and not before. And if one or more of the said Children should happen to die before they attain the full age of twenty one years then their share or shares to be divided equally between the surviving ones. All he residue or remainder of any property whatsoever it may be or wheresoever situated [... ...] Note or Notes I give and Bequeath unto my Brother John Darch after paying any just debts if any any funeral and testamentary Expenses and every one of the before mentioned Legacies and I likewise constitute make and ordain him Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and dis[...] all and every other former Testament or Will made by me ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. This is William Darch, aged about 26. His sister Nancy was about 20 at the 1841 Census and has married Robert Joce since. Richard was also about 20 in 1841. Mary Josling (or Joslyn) is about 40 now. Thomas was 16 in 1841. Betsy was 21 in 1851 and has just married James Peace. Executor John is William's elder brother, son Richard and Joan Alford, fifth child. .
