Only events for which hard evidence have been included. Hard evidence is defined as:
Sight of a formal record of an event (original or film copy or photo copy)
Sight of a transcript of a formal record of an event (produced by a trustworthy source, including reliable on-line sources - see below)
On Line Sources considered reliable
FreeBMD: a transcription project with good quality control which covers the Birth, Marriage and Death Indexes for the UK
Ancestry.com: I use this subscription service a lot, but only rely on data which I can see a scanned copy of. The data embedded in uploaded family trees cannot, sadly, be relied upon.
IGI: The Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) has arranged transcription of many parish registers and the Censuses of 1880 in the USA and 1881 in the UK and Canada. There are also a large number of records which have been added from sources other than parish records, where the source is only identified as 'added by a member'. This source is a useful indicator, but not wholly reliable.
On Line Sources considered not reliable
Any web site which presents family trees, unless there is a clear and checkable data trace. There is usually no data trace and it is all to easy for fiction and fantasy to appear here. Sorry!
Some data has been included which is based on family legend, primarily to put markers down for future searches of records.
